Installing module drivers on Windows

What you need

  • A Windows PC (Windows 10 or 11)
  • Micro USB cable that supports data transmission
  • Your J&OT module
  • Zadig (free driver installation tool)

1. Download Zadig

  1. Go to: https://zadig.akeo.ie
  2. Download Zadig (latest version)
  3. Right-click zadig.exeRun as administrator

⚠️ Administrator rights are required.

2. Put the module into Bootloader mode

Before Windows can detect the device correctly, the module must be in bootloader mode.

  1. Connect the module to your PC via the USB cable
  2. Press and hold the BOOT button on the module.
  3. While holding BOOT, press and release the RESET button.

Once in Bootloader mode:

  • Windows may show “Unknown USB device”

✅ This is expected.

3. Open the correct device in Zadig

When Zadig opens:

  1. Click: OptionsList All Devices (this step is very important)
  2. In the device dropdown, look for one of the following:
  • STM32 BOOTLOADER
  • DFU in FS Mode
  • Unknown Device

If multiple devices appear, unplug and replug the module to see which one appears/disappears. If you unplug and replug, remember to set the module in bootloader mode as described in step 2.

✅ Select the one that corresponds to the module.

4. Select the correct driver

In Zadig you will see:

Driver: (something) → (something)

Set it to: ✅ WinUSB

Do not use: libusbK or libusb-win32

👉 Always choose WinUSB

In Zadig, select the STM32 Bootloader

5. Install the driver

Click:

Install Driver (or Replace Driver)

Wait until Zadig shows:

Driver installation successful

This usually takes 5–15 seconds.

6. Verify installation

After installation:

  • Unplug the device
  • Plug it back and go to the J&OT web programmer

Now Windows and the J&OT web programmer should recognize it correctly.

❓ Troubleshooting

  • Make sure List All Devices is enabled
  • Re-enter Bootloader mode with the RESET and BOOT button sequence
  • Try another USB port
  • Try another cable (very common issue)

Wrong driver installed accidentally

You can safely reinstall:

  • Run Zadig again
  • Select the device
  • Choose WinUSB
  • Click Replace Driver

Try:

  • Different USB cable
